Many of the dogs were abandoned, abused, and neglected or sadly surrendered due to an owner’s illness or death. The dogs come in all “flavors”, age–even puppies, or wise, old monks with whiskers destined to melt your heart. Hi, Debby – our lives have been pretty upside down for the past year, but wanted you to see how gorgeous our girl is now. Her personality is great – she’s very calm, and a happy little girl. All three of them are inseparable now, and often, she and Murphy will be stretched out on the floor in exactly the same position – paws crossed, etc. Cute! They’ve all had a tough time. We sold our double wide home in June and we have been living in a log cabin high up on the hill – with no doggy door – since July 7. It has a loft and some rather treacherous stairs. Katie (the dachshund) has no fear of them and bounds up and down them; Murphy is a little cautious; and Bitsy was downright afraid of them. We’d carry her up and down from our bedroom. Finally, she got brave and would go up to the landing, gradually brave enough to go up them alone – but very slowly. She will be very happy to get into our new modular which we hope to have here and be into within two or three weeks. Hope all is going well with you and also hope we can still take that trip to the quilt museum one of these days! Nancy

- In the animated series Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends, Peter’s Aunt May owns a lhasa apso named Ms. Lion.
- Lhasa Apso has also appeared in at least one episode of the Simpsons. In the episode Three Gays of the Condo, Homer Simpson moved in with a couple of gay men. Homer started to act like a gay man and got a Lhasa Apso. Also, Milhouse Van Houten owns a lhasa apso.

This organization’s founder is Juliette Cunliffe. From the author information in All About The Lhasa Apso:
Despite her love of animals from a very young age, during the early years of her life Juliette Cunliffe had to make do with a variety of pets ranging from garden worms to guinea pigs. When she was eleven her father eventually gave permission for the first family canine companion, a Rough collie.
With several years spent away from home whilst studying and working abroad, it was not until the mid 1970s that she was able to become fully involved in the world of dogs. Owner of Lhasa Apsos and hounds breeds, she is a successful breeder and exhibitor and in a Championship Show judge of Lhasa Apsos, ass well as a judge of other breeds. Her special interest in Tibetan and related dogs extends also to the Tibetan people and to the country itself.
She holds the Canine Studies Institutes Judging Diploma and Breeding Certificate, is Hon Secretary of the Lhasa Apso Club and is a breed-note correspondent for Our Dogs, a weekly canine newspaper.
