Seth – aka Samson – update
Posted: September 14, 2007 Filed under: FFT Lhasa Apsos Leave a commentReceived this post this week. Samson – aka Seth – is formally known as Champion FFT It’s Five O’clock Somewhere. He’s been in his forever home since last Christmas.
This is just an update on Samson’s life with the Fraser’s.
He is a wonderful, happy, playful dog and we are so happy he has come into our home. We have been in Ohio since late May and he has been introduced to a different lifestyle from his life in Florida. We live in an area where he must be walked on a leash but in our own yard he follows me around as I inspect the garden. He is quite interested in our neighbors next door and I have found him several times “window-peeking” in their kitchen door! When I walk him in the afternoon he greets a few other dogs he has met and is particularly interested in Bender, a yellow Lab who is owned by my friend Mary, also known as the “Cookie Lady” who always has tiny dog biscuits in her pocket.
Sam retires in the evening at the end our bed (he’s spoiled rotten!) but before he settles down he rearranges the blankets to his specifications which entails lots of pulling, scratching and turnarounds. He remains there until he decides it is time to wake up and then of course WE must wake up also. I’m not always in agreement but he is so adorable that I can’t stop smiling at him and finally give in.
We will be returning to Florida in about a month to get away from the gloomy, cold Ohio weather. Our Colorado son, Don Fraser, and our grandson, Michael, will be joining us for Christmas so we are looking forward to that.
Hoping that everything is going well at your kennel and that you are well also,
Your grateful new mother of Samson,
Caroline
The weekend’s here..
Posted: September 7, 2007 Filed under: Apso Aficionados 1 CommentGood Friday morning. I’m heading up to Greeley shortly and look forward to seeing some of you there. Some of you, I’ll see Monday here at my house. Some of you…I’ll see another time. Gail has postponed her trip to Colorado. Julie’s airplane ticket was Saturday, not Thursday, which she discovered at the airport. 😦 Disappointing, to say the least. Edmund traveled from Minnesota with Val and Melissa, so I’ll be showing him instead of Julie. Better get on with the day!
Pretty, pretty from Pauline
Posted: September 6, 2007 Filed under: Apso Aficionados 2 CommentsPauline lives in Michigan and is a fellow breeder/exhibitor. She does handwork to keep her fingers nibble. (Nibble enough to groom all that Apso hair?) Last year she donated several crate mats, offered as trophies, to the Lhasa Apso Club of Central Colorado. They were coral and turquoise, common Tibetan colors. She embroidered the club’s initials on each mat. This year she presented me with this pretty doilie, again in Tibetan colors. The scan doesn’t show the intricate edge, but until I hone my camera skills, it shows the rest of details better than a photo.
I met Pauline several years ago, when in Minnesota attending shows. I have a post, in rough edit, for the blog introducing Pauline, which I’ll post soon.
Pauline, can you send me some photos of your dogs either snail mail or email? Did you figure out how to ‘comment’ on the blog? I may have had something turned off – or on – on the administrative end when you attempted to comment on a Fernando post.
The AKC Museum of the Dog
Posted: September 5, 2007 Filed under: Art and Photography Leave a commentThought some of you might enjoy visiting, via the internet, The AKC Museum of the Dog. Located in St. Louis, this piece was one of many featured in an article about the museum in The AKC Gazette.

Debby on…just for fun.
Posted: September 4, 2007 Filed under: DRambles on Black Mountain Leave a commentIn April 2006 Rick and I, along with Rick’s sister Chris and her husband Herman, took a long weekend trip to San Francisco and spent a day in wine country. Kaz’s very small vineyard was recommended to us by one of the big vineyards. I ended up joining his wine club. This tasty treat was in the last shipment I received. Hey, Kathy, notice the name of the wine…Deevah! I’ll have to share Diva Deva on the blog!

Family Owned and Run
Winemaker/Owner Richard Kasmier, a.k.a. Kaz, is the only full-time employee of himself. He’s supported by his lovely-artistic-creative wife, Sandi, and their two kids, Ryan and Kristin. The Kaz family creates all of their own labels, ads and even this website. Our humble winery/tasting room, in Kenwood, is typically staffed by one of the Kaz’s.
Notes: Deevah (pronounced as diva) is a beguiling, unusual blend Syrah and Barbera. What else would you expect form Kaz?She has an intense upfront blast of fruit that relaxes with layers of subtle tannins, spices and oak.
Pairing Suggestions: Just about any lamb dish, thick stew, or herby grilled vegetables will match up.
Stats: Percentages = 67% Syrah from Kaz and 33% Barbera from St. Olof Vineyards Barrels Produced = 3 Alcohol = 13.4% Grapes from: Sonoma County Label by – Ryan Kaz
