:Two puppies and a funeral…

birthannouncement

You know the movie…Four Weddings and A Funeral. Three Puppies and A Funeral became Two Puppies and A Funeral. That was The Week That Was.

Friday night Ponya had an emergency c-section. Exhausting. Expensive. Hours laying in the exam room floor with her. Two thriving puppies. One not-so-thriving puppy died Sunday morning after round-the-clock care. But…

She’s got puppies!

Two daughters. One black. One gold sable. Yippee!! I wanted a Ponya daughter. There’s two! And one is black! Yippee!!

And..so..life, joyous life goes on.

Hurrah for Ponya’s girls….not to mention her midwife, Debbie !!!!!

Are these puppies considered Gompas? Or are they semi-Gompas???? Or ????

Whatever they are called, they are gonna be loved and wonderful.

Thank you for keeping us all posted, Debbie.

Oh Debby! What an emotionally draining month you’ve had! But. Two beautiful puppies! New little lives that will bring joy and comfort to this needy world.
And many thanks that you are an experienced mid-wife who knew she needed help.

I’ll get photos later today and post tomorrow. They’re content, plump little girls. Ponya is being an excellent mother, which is always a big concern given her age, first litter, not to mention a c-section. Names. I need to name them. The evening they were born, the moon was stunning. All night long. Between a crescent moon and a sliver moon, the moon’s entire outline was visible. One month past Harvest Moon, it was still big. I’m going to name the girls after that moon, utilizing Tenzin to translate into Tibetan. They’ll be “of the past”, rounding out the trio of Keeper puppies. To The Past. From The Past. Of The Past.

Susan, because these puppies, along with their half-brothers and half-sisters, came into this world to help the Gompa breeding program, I call them Gompas. Their names – XXX From/Of/To The Past – separate them from the rest of the Gompas. Keeper was hand-selected for several reasons, including his own lineage. He is a ‘Hamilton’ dog, meaning his lineage dates back to the Lhasa Apsos given to American diplomate Suydam Cutting by the 13th Dalai Lama.
