:Julie on…heading for LA!!

Heading for LA!!
Tomorrow Fernando and I fly out to LA for the Eukanuba National.  This is a show where the top dogs are invited to show and 1 of the only shows that offers cash for prizes.  Best in Show will win $50,000!!!  The decision to attend this show did not come easy, as my friends who have had to listen to me debate my chances against my financial situation can attest to.  It came down to that Fernando and I at least deserve to give it a shot!! Fernando has proven himself as a top winning Lhasa from the first time he entered the ring at 7 months old and won a 5point major.  This past summer he was not having a lot of fun showing and I was about to make the decision to retire him but in the last 3 shows  Fernando has turned around and has been showing awesome.  If he can show as well at the Eukanuba as he did at these shows I will be proud of him. I’d appreciate any positive thoughts you can send my way on Saturday, Fernando and I should walk into the ring around 2:30 California time. Even after all this time I still get nervous!!!

:Susan on…itchy skin

Okay. Okay. So the graphic isn’t a dog itching. But it’s really cool!! Far more interesting than an actual photo of a dog itching! It’s called Guard Dog, found in the Street Art and Sculpture area of the Itchy Pixels website.  You can understand why a google search on ‘itchy canines’ led to it. There’s a bunch of other cool street art to check out…in between itching.

Here’s several clips from correspondence with Susan…

Both Raji and Rinchen came home from the groomer with a report that
their skin seemed excessively dry.
Raji had actually dug herself a good sized hot spot on her neck that we
will be putting some Gentamycin on for a few days.
Rinchen hadn’t shown any obvious signs  — at least not to me.
Sammy’s is fine.
Any easy suggestions for additions/changes to their diets?? to increase
either their Omega 3 or Omega 6 Fatty Acids/

I’m thinking that brushing them nightly (which I’ve gotten very lax on)
should help a bit by stimulating the oil producing glands in the skin,
but any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I myself seem to have a seborrhetic dermatitis (fungal).  I wonder if
they could have the same thing????  I use a ketokonazole shampoo to
control the itchy scalp….Hmmm…back to Google.

So, as of today I am changing their diet in two ways:  I’m gonna poach
their daily egg instead of giving it to them raw since I understand
there is an enzyme (avatin) in raw eggs that may block the absorbtion of
biotin and “cause skin problems”.   And, I’m going to give them some
fish oil once a day….   Any other ideas will still and always be
appreciated.

This is a great topic. Input invited!

Last year I enclosed SASE postcards with our greetings, asking folks to share their NY dreams and meaning of Christmas in 3 words.  Some got a little carried away and composed paragraphs of beautiful thoughts!  Planned to use those postcards in a project for this year’s card.  After many renovations, Debby suggested I gather them onto a wreath and Katy offered her artistic advice on staging the photo!  Here it is!  And instead of the usual, “dreaded” Christmas letter, I collaged all the messages onto a single sheet.  Everyone on my list will receive the above card and the printed wishes.   If you look carefully you will see a yellow rosebud.  Susan sent it from her garden!
The friendship wreath now hangs on our front door, welcoming the heart of Christmas into our home.  Drop in for a cup of tea!  You are always welcome!
