I really appreciate this. Please do let me know when something isn’t working! At Julie’s request, I redid Roman’s ‘postcard’ in the Galleries section, but neglected to relink it to his pedigree and collage page. It may have taken me a long time to realize this oversight without Mary’s input. Thanks again!
Mary asked about the dog on the home page, blowing in the wind, on the rocks. That’s Seth, Ch. FFT It’s Five O’clock Somewhere. Seth is Roman’s sire. That photo was taken by Faye, the day Seth completed his Championship. Julie was in Colorado too. I had something else going at the show site…and asked them to please do a photo session. While that photo looks like he’s high on a mountain top, he’s actually in front of a rock wall at a gas station!
With rare exception, all the photos and artwork is of our dogs. Feel free to inquire about any of them!
Opie Gone Bad
Posted: September 2, 2007 Filed under: Apso Aficionados Leave a commentA few weeks ago, during a B-B-Q at Ginny and Kim’s, he mentioned having heard a local treasure – Opie Gone Bad. Kim is so knowledgable about music; his passion comes through clearly. He knows musicians, bands, their histories. Over the years, many times Rick and I had heard of Opie Gone Bad, but never heard them play. Nate’s former swim coach, Anthony, is also a huge music buff. When he lived in Evergreen, there were two bands he made every effort to see when they plaved at Evergreen’s world-famous Little Bear. One was the Young Dubliners. The other was Opie Gone Bad. Remembering this, makes it even stranger that Rick and I hadn’t heard Opie Gone Bad. We spent about ten years worth of ‘vacations’ with Anthony, traveling with Nate to different parts of the country for swim meets. We took the opportunity to see sights and hear music. Top all of that with our own love of music…went to Memphis this past May just to hear music on Beale Street…and, well, it’s unbelievable we hadn’t heard Opie Gone Bad.
Last night we did! Wow! Julie, it seems ‘funk’ has entered our lives! Savion Glover. Opie Gone Bad. Bring on the funk!

Mom…on Kaylee’s accomplishment

Every breed has different guideline and numbers, but basically it is being the “listed” breeder with the AKC on a dog that obtains its championship. The American Lhasa Apso Club requires you to be the listed breeder, on 10 champions to earn the ROM status. It is an awesome accomplishment and shows you have knowledge of the breed.
I am a bad mom, and not because I never recorded when my kids got their first tooth, or took their first step, or said their first word. No! I forgot to keep record of something really important. After our big weekend at the Minnesota Specialties, we all figured that Kaylee was now a Register Of Merit Breeder, because she was breeder on 2 of the dogs which earned their Championship last weekend. After I got home from the show on Sunday I sat down and made a list of the dogs that Kaylee was a breeder on. (I was going to surprise her when she got home from work.) It came to a surprise to me that Kaylee earned the status of Register of Merit Breeder on June 22nd of this year!!! Kaylee is not only a breeder of, but also a co-owner of:

2. Ch. Timbers’ She Tsabo Tequila Rose
3. Ch. FFT. Fernando
4. Ch. FFT All Said N’ Done

I’m not sure how we verify that she is the youngest ROM breeder of Lhasa Apso (at the ripe old age of 20) but possible the youngest ROM breeder of any breed.
Kaylee has paid her dues not only in the show ring – she has shown at one time or another 9 of the first 10 champions and C’est La Vie and Veni Vidi Vice were also her Junior Showmanship dogs – but she has whelped, groomed, fed and picked up as much poop as any seasoned breeder. Anyone who knows Kaylee, would tell you she truly knows the breed from heritage, to structure, to understanding their temperament. FFT is proud to have her as part of our team, and hope she continues in Lhasas in the future-the breed will benefit from her knowledge.
