Layout…compliments of Vickie
Posted: January 19, 2010 Filed under: Apso Aficionados, Lotsa Lhasa Info 1 CommentIt will be interesting to see if a Lhasa Apso on the cover of Dog Fancy and this beautiful ad within (done by our Vickie!) will generate more interest in our beloved breed.
The Lhasa Apso Club of Central Colorado met Sunday after brunch at Mount Vernon. We set up the upcoming year’s meeting dates and had all intent and purpose to set up some doggie get-togethers for ‘regular’ folks, perhaps using meetup.com. With husbands chomping at the bit, we rushed through instead. The next meeting will be held after Lhasa Apso judging in Ginny’s grooming area. Better put those doggie get-togethers on the agenda. Could be some creative meetups, given we’ve planned a Wine and Cheese Party for that particular meeting.
P.S. My server is still having some issues with the hardware utilized by my websites:
Well Gandalf is kind of up. We have ordered the new server, finally. Should arrive Feb 2. In the mean time we are going to try and get things fixed up or moved to a different server. The main issue will be the SGOL site. I am going to try some things tomorrow so expect some down time off and on. We lost the primary drive and I reconstructed from the last image backup a week plus ago, prior to the upgrade. I know this has been as much a pain as it has been for us.

No sheep?
Posted: January 17, 2010 Filed under: Apso Aficionados Leave a commentThanks Vickie! Years ago I had four Apsos herding instinct tested. Danielle passed with flying colors, controlling even the seasoned sheep with her ‘eye’. Maybe I should pick up a smaller version of these sheep and give the current lot a try?!
The Clock
Posted: January 14, 2010 Filed under: Apso Aficionados Leave a commentMarie – my sister Kelly’s mother-in-law and more importantly Anna’s Forever Home – shared this with me. I love the message and, in particular, I love this image.
The post was titled The Clock because of this ticking clock, along with a message to pass it on, you’re on the clock. I’m including the clock because I want to see if the image moves on the blog. Ah, that’s me! Always checking things out! Whoops, never mind. I’m having trouble saving the image in a format wordpress will accept. Instead….imagine a ticking clock here.
I’ve edited the introduction for the heathens (within and without).
In life you don’t get the people you want; you get the people you NEED… to help you, to hurt you, to leave you, to love you and to make you into the person you were meant to be..
One Flaw In Women
Women have strengths that amaze men…..
They bear hardships and they carry burdens,
but they hold happiness, love and joy..
They smile when they want to scream.
They sing when they want to cry.
They cry when they are happy
and laugh when they are nervous.
They fight for what they believe in..
They stand up to injustice.
They don’t take “no” for an answer
when they believe there is a better solution.
They go without so their family can have..
They go to the doctor with a frightened friend.
They love unconditionally.
They cry when their children excel
and cheer when their friends get awards.
They are happy when they hear about
a birth or a wedding.
Their hearts break when a friend dies.
They grieve at the loss of a family member,
yet they are strong when they
think there is no strength left.
They know that a hug and a kiss
can heal a broken heart.
Women come in all shapes, sizes and colors.
They’ll drive, fly, walk, run or e-mail you
to show how much they care about you.
The heart of a woman is what
makes the world keep turning.
They bring joy, hope and love.
They have compassion and ideas.
They give moral support to their
family and friends.
Women have vital things to say
and everything to give.
However, if there is one flaw in women,
It is that they forget their worth.
Armchair Travel

Pop some corn, add a little salt from the Himalayas, and a touch of butter…treat yourself to a breathtaking journey into Tibetan life.
“The Last Salt Caravan follows the Ancient Trade Route to Tibet’s mysterious gorge with salton spring. We follow the caravan as it is taking a salt-selling journey on the Ancient Trade Route between Tibet and China. The memory of the ancient trade route was regarded as something that had fallen into oblivion until we met the last salt caravan in the deep mountains of Tibet. The Province of Yunnan, located in the south western part of China, is the very starting point of the Ancient Tea Trade Route toward Tibet, which was also called a southern Silk Road with a two thousand year history. Caravans from Yanijing and Yunnan still take this route to trade tea grains and most importantly, salt. Throughout history, salt had been the source of power. This region and the salt caravan introduce you to a hidden way of life at dizzying heights!”

The scientist hunts and photographs snowflakes all over the world! He made a video, Snowflake Safari!
