Well, let’s see…so much, most of it probably boring. I’ve always been attracted to the classic “Shaggy Dog.” I saw a pic on the cover of the club approved book (over 10 yrs. ago) and thought this was the one. I’ve always been surrounded by a plethora of dogs, some purebred, some not, but they have all had the hair thing going on. The pic on the cover of the book is a puppy and although I knew mine would be bigger, I had no idea what it was like to own a real herding/working dog. Whoa!!!There have been a lot of ups and downs over the years, particularly in the area of breeding. The standard says these guys are somewhat aloof and suspicious of strangers and this is very true in most cases. The one fellow that has stolen my heart is my Hummer. He is not of my breeding, but I did campaign him to # 1 all breed Pon in 2006. He has an outstanding temperament and is still young, so hopefully we can spread his good will for a few years. Of late I find smaller is better…with Lhasas I still get some of the very same qualities, but I can easily pick my girl up!
