Posted on Veterinary Information Network, the article begins:
The spreading popularity of topical hormone treatments in people — especially but not exclusively menopausal women — is having unintended medical consequences for the users’ pets.
Spayed dogs and young female puppies are showing up in veterinary exam rooms with markedly swollen vulvas as if they are in heat. Male dogs present with enlarged mammary glands and abnormally small penises. Animals of both genders experience fur loss.

Tales from the campside
Posted: July 2, 2010 Filed under: Apso Aficionados, FFT Lhasa Apsos Leave a commentIn case you haven’t been to Vickie’s ApsoRescueColorado site lately… and/or if you’ve been wondering if Dante loves his new ‘do….
Ahhhh, summertime and the camp sites are calling! We returned home Sunday evening from a four-day camping trip which included two days on the river in a canoe. This year’s trip was taken with my adult niece and her family, as well as one of Alan’s co-worker’s and his family for a total of six adults, four children and one dog … Dante. Our outdoor activities generally include the dogs whether it be camping, hiking, bicycling or canoeing (where *everyone* wears a life jacket).
Tashi Mannox
Posted: July 1, 2010 Filed under: Apso Aficionados Leave a commentThanks Faye! (Now get back to work!)
Calligraphy artist in Tibetan related scripts and iconography, Tashi Mannox was born in England in the year of the water tiger. For the past 30 years he has studied an eclectic range of artistic disciplines within both the Eastern and Western traditions in his journey as a painter and calligrapher.
Shortly after gaining a BA [Hons] degree in Fine Art, he became a Buddhist monk of the Tibetan Kagyu order and at the tender age of 22 was given the name Tsering Tashi.
Spend some time exploring his website!
Fish oil…flax seed oil
Posted: June 29, 2010 Filed under: Lotsa Lhasa Info 12 CommentsSusan wonders:
I’ve gotten completely sick of opening capsules of fish oil for the dogs.

I take flax seed oil every day.
Any reason not to give the dogs the same thing?
Susan
