Kaylee Timbers

Kaylee achieved her Register of Merit Breeder title in the summer of 2007. Her involvement with the dogs began when she was three years old, at which time she insisted on helping her mom feed the dogs. Now away at college, her mom misses her for more than one reason!

If it seems like you have watched Kaylee in the ring for most of her life, well you have! Kaylee started taking dogs back in the ring for Julie at the age of 5. By age 8 she was beating Julie! At age 9, Debby gifted her with her very own Lhasa, Victoria. She was to be her Junior Showmanship dog, but Victoria decided she would rather eat her hair. She won Championship points, but never enough hair to finish her title. Kaylee chose another Lhasa to show for Juniors, Victoria was bred and so began Kaylee’s career as a breeder.

Victoria, Timbers’ Fleetfire Victoria ROM*, became an ROM too, producing:
1. Ch. FFT Veni Vidi Vici (Roman was one of Kaylee’s Junior Showmanship dogs)
2. Ch. FFT C’est La Vie   (C’est La Vie was one of Kaylee’s Junior Showmanship dogs)
3. Ch. FFT Que Sais-Je (Camron)
4. Ch. FFT Sine Qua Non (Ian)
5. Ch. FFT Do U Wanna Dance (Anna)
The next dog Kaylee owned was Chianti. Not liking the show ring, she also headed for the whelping box where she also became an ROM. Officially known as She Tsabo Timbers’ Chianti ROM*, her Champion offspring:
6. Ch. Timbers’ She Tsabo Shot O’Tequila ROM* (Tequila was one of Kaylee’s Junior Showmanship dogs)
7. Ch. She Tsabo Timbers’ Magic Man (Manny)
8. Ch. She Tsabor Timbers’ Magic in the Air (Avery)
9. Ch. FFT No Wine Before Its Time (Edmund)
Tequila produced Kaylee’s second generation of breeder/owner Lhasas and, like the others, is also an ROM having produced:
1
0. Ch. Timber’s She Tsabo Tequila Rose
11. Ch. FFT Fernando
12. Ch. FFT All Said N’ Done
13. Ch. FFT Kisses of Fire
Kaylee has had a hand in showing, grooming and conditioning all her Champions, with the exception of those living in Colorado. She has shown and finished many more dogs, including Lhasa Apsos bred and owned by other breeders in Minnesota and Michigan. Her knowledge of the breed extends further than the show ring, where she has more than proven herself an exceptional handler and groomer. She helps evaluate and train every litter. Julie and Debby ask her opinion when picking stud dogs, trusting her knowledge and intuition as much as their own. Kaylee, at the age of 20, is the youngest ROM breeder in the history of the breed. How can a person so young be an ROM breeder? Well…she’s been feeding Lhasas since she was 3. She’s been showing Lhasas since she was 5. Her first litter listing her as the breeder of record was born in 1999.  Anyone who knows Kaylee knows she’s a well rounded person and this definitely extends into the world of dogs.
Here’s what Julie had to say about Kaylee’s ROM accomplishment:kaylee3
What is a Register of Merit Breeder (ROM)?  Every breed has different guideline and numbers, but basically it is being the “listed” breeder with the AKC on a dog that obtains its championship. The American Lhasa Apso Club requires you to be the listed breeder, on 10 champions to earn the ROM status.  It is an awesome accomplishment and shows you have knowledge of the breed.I am a bad mom, and not because I never recorded when my kids got their first tooth, or took their first step, or said their first word. No! I forgot to keep record of something really important. After our big weekend at the Minnesota Specialties, we all figured that Kaylee was now a Register Of Merit Breeder, because she was breeder on 2 of the dogs which earned their Championship last weekend.  After I got home from the show on Sunday I sat down and made a list of the dogs that Kaylee was a breeder on. (I was going to surprise her when she got home from work.) It came to a surprise to me that Kaylee earned the status of Register of Merit Breeder on June 22nd of this year!!!  Kaylee is not only a breeder of, but also a co-owner of:

1. Ch. Timbers’ She Tsabo Shot O’Tequila ROM
2. Ch. Timbers’ She Tsabo Tequila Rose
3. Ch. FFT. Fernando
4. Ch. FFT All Said N’ Done
5. Ch. She Tsabo Timbers’ Magic Man
6. Ch. FFT Veni Vidi Vici
7. Ch. FFT C’est la Vie
8. Ch. FFT Que Sais-Je
9. Ch. FFT Sine Qua Non
10. Ch. She Tsabo Timbers’ Magic In Th’ Air (finished 6-22-07)

We now add to that impressive list:

11. Ch. FFT Do U Wanna Dance
12. Ch. FFT Kisses of Fire
13. Ch. FFT No Wine Before Its Time

Kaylee has paid her dues not only in the show ring – she has shown at one time or another 11 of her 13 champions and C’est  La Vie and VeniVidi Vice were also her Junior Showmanship dogs – but she has whelped, groomed, fed and picked up as much poop as any seasoned breeder. Anyone who knows Kaylee, would tell you she truly knows the breed from heritage, to structure, to understanding their temperament.  FFT is proud to have her as part of our team, and hope she continues in Lhasas in the future-the breed will benefit from her knowledge.

And, from Debby:
It was an incredible weekend, but the most important achievement of the weekend was Kaylee becoming a Register of Merit Breeder. The youngest in the history of our breed and very possibly the youngest in any breed. She has been involved with the daily care of Julie’s dogs since she was 3 years old. She had a very successful junior handling career. She grooms more meticulously than either her mom of me. Her presentation of the dogs in the ring is impeccable. Kaylee is starting her junior year in college. Having watched this young woman grow, I’m so proud of her!

A walk down memory lane…

Look at some of the photos, noting Kaylee’s height.
It was hard enough for her to get the dog on the table,
never mind stacking the dog perfectly! Julie worked
around that by stacking the dog for the photo, with Kaylee along side.
